Ok so...yes...like you probably saw in my last post...The World's Greatest Magic Show is closing on September 1st.  Even though I know it is happening and even though as I write it I see it on the screen and we talk about it literally every day backstage it is still hard to imagine that it is finally going dark...for good this time.  It has been my home for the past 3 years and everybody there is like a close knit family...I'm really going to miss our backstage antics which we often compare to the high school boys lockerroom.  There is a saying of the story of a little boy saying to his monther "i want to grow up to become a magician" of to which she replied "you can't do both".  I love that quote because it is so very much the truth.  At least for all of us backstage we're all stuck in our teenage years it seems to be.  I will still be based out of las vegas and I do have some irons in the fire but I'm going to take a break from being in a nightly show here in town in order to spread my wings a bit more.  In the comign months you'll see my friend Reza and I traveling around the mid-west with our illusion show.  Reza is a talented illusionist from south dakota and a friend of mine for the past few years.  We've been talking about a dual show for some time now and this is as good of a time as ever.  you can read more about it on the tour page or by visiting: www.alteredrealitylive.com . 

I'll be coming back to the castle in November as well as a few other dinner theaters on the west coast.  Right now though you'd find me updating my promo kit! haha.  wait...that's not funny at all.  Stay tuned as more developed...I gota go scan some more vintage newspaper articles about me...yay...i think?

its official...The World's Greatest Magic Show will have its final performance on September 1st...too much going on right now to write about...more to follow...

Well we're back from our little trip to Denver...that 12 hour drive through Utah sure was fun!  -yeah.  right.

Actually it wasn't bad, we were packed to the max with our equipment and headed out into the wild blue yander.  It was a great time and the shows were a hit.  Temika and I opened the show with the birds, lifesaver, coin operated boy, and closed with our new spiker illusion.  My good buddy Reza and his crew brought in all of our production lights and stuff and closed the show strong -after 2 and some odd hours later- long story don't ask- and all the other acts on the show kept it going.  This was really a fun time, no egoes, no jerks, just everybody pulling together and doing their thing to bring a great show to these people.  I can't wait to do it again!

More road show dates hve been posted in the tour section for this coming fall and still some more are in the mix off the top of my head I'll be heading to colorado again, then to hollywood, orlando, calgary, and some more i can't remember.  So stay tuned.  After we got back we spent an evening hanging out with my Uncle John who was in town.  Then I had to get up the next morning and drive to Pahrump..that's where all the brothels are - NO I DIDN'T GO THERE FOR THE BROTHELS - you perv.  Instead I did a show for hte Pahrump public library.  Today I have a show for my good friend and fellow magician Losander's daughter's 7th birthday so it should be a blast.  Really looking forward to it.  losander always throws the best parties!

Actually looking at the time I better go get ready for it.  Temika will be takin some pics and such so I'll post thsoe soon.  I know i've fallen way behind with the "whats int eh dumpster" and some other sections on this site...now that I ACTUALLY HAVE SOME FREE TIME for once in my life I will finishign up teh rest of the galleries and get some of that other junk done.  Ugh...eat me.

Yes, it has been quite some time since I have posted in my secret diary...but...i've been busy!

Things are busy at the World's Greatest show as we're in full swing of our sumer season and crowds have been packed in which is awesome.  it is always good to go out on stage to a packed house where you can really play off the energy of everybody.  Temika and I have been really busy getting ready to head to Colorado next week for our shows we have out there and trying to get a new illusion ready...if its not ready in time we'll just do Interlude as planned but I've been trying to find time to do some cosmetic upgrades to this new one we've been wanting to do and we'll just have to see if it is ready in time.

Last night my friend Teller let us come and see his show "Penn and Teller"...not sure if you've heard of them...they do a show at the Rio.  It was awesome, the best magic show in town no doubt.  If you're in vegas you have to go and see these guys.  They fried me hardcore on just about EVERYTHING they did!

I'm also behind on the "whats in the dumpster" posts on the forum so i'm going ot get going on that tonight after the show...so stay tuned...but for now i have to go take my pizza out of the oven and get ready to go to the factory!

Not gona lie...I'm pretty excited about some things developing out here in the desert...but I'm sorry to say I can't talk about them yet...all I can say is it'll be MayheM!!! 

Ok so tonight was kinda gross...I get off stage and am walking through one of the doorways backstage and I kinda brush past this black makeshift curtain which helps to keep the backstage dressing room area lighting from getting onto the wings onstage.  -Anways- So I walk through there and I feel one of my hair spikes like catch something...like I walked through a spider web or something like that..

well a few months back temika took a pic of this nasty huge ugly -prolly poisonous- spider.  So I'm like great now I have its babies in my hair.  So I just kind of flick my fingers through my hair back and fourth really quick and A HUGEASS COCKROACH FLIES OUT OF MY HAIR AND ONTO THE FLOOR AND SKURRIES AWAY!!!

yeah you read that right...a freakin' cockroach.  I didn't sign up for this...


Anyways in other news I finally posted a "what's in the dumpster at the greek isles" post in my forum...log onto: www.dansperry.com and jump on into the freaky fan forum to check it out!

I'd write more but my leg is falling asleep because I'm sitting on the floor in my living room and spike is asleep on my shin so I need to get up and move it about before it starts to feel like I have pins and needles poking me... until next time!

That's right boys and girls!  One of Danny Boi's top 5 favs is coming out with a new EP...Alkaline Trio is releasing Agony and Irony on July 1st...yay...not gona lie though I'm a bit worries about this one because I heard some of the sneak peak tracks from it and honestly Crimson was a bit dodgy and not as raw as some of their past stuff and from what I hear from Agony and Irony it is pretty Crimson-esque.  I guess we'll just have to see.  None the less buy their music anyway!

Hey so i finally completed all of my requirements for college!  So yeah I'm finally done with art school, send your cards and money...thank you...

If I wasn't in the process of moving this weekend I would have been taking pictures of this event to go in my "What's in the dumpster at the greek isles" section.  But everything happens for a reason I guess.  Last night at the show Jason, Hayley, and myself went dumpster diving in the dumpsters behind the greek isles -yes we had on our biohazard suits- and found some really cool stuff like some giant picture frames and things like that from when the Rat Pack show as there.  So we dusted them off and kept them.  It was good times for sure.

To be quite honest I think I lost my digital camera so I was thinking of going and getting a new one today, but since I am actually moving I want to wait until I get somewhat unpacked before buying a new one only to find my old one a day later as I'm unpacking.  That would not be cool. 

The crowds have been nice since we're getting closer to summer.  A funny thing happend last night, a family came up to me who remembered seeing me in a show I did with Marshall Brodien back when I lived in Chicago.  That was neat that they actually remembered me and what are the odds that they'd be here in vegas and come to see teh show I was in.  Small world I guess.

In other news I passed my last class for college.  So I guess I'm officially done now.  It's been a lot of pain and hard work to have to force myself to sit and do the work (i'm not lying) with all the conflicts I already have in my professional and personal schedule.  What Iv'e been doing for the past about 2 years is taking classes online, pretty much one class at a time.  So it has been a long uphill battle.  Yes.  A battle.  Especially too when I have other people who come to me often to have me do graphical artistic creations for them it is hard to strike a balance....school or something I'm getting paid to do and literally have no limits...ummmmm yeah you be the judge.  But I think I've made my parents happy and they can say that they don't have a college drop out kid.  Not that they wern't supportive of the magic thing I'm doing, but I think they can rest a little easier now.  Besides...how do you make a million dollars with magic?  ...you start with two million.  thank you and goodnight.

yay!  Okay so yeah just listening to a little MSI BdayM remix while doing a bit more tweaking to the web site and finally posting the ALL-NEW Dan's Secret Diary! (applause track please)

Since you're reading this you've probably already figured out that I have a new web site and quite honestly I'm very happy with how it turned out.  Kind of one of those accidents that came about after several attempts at a decent re-design and this one just sort of clicked one night and I went with it.  The response has been very positive...this is always  a good thing.  So with that I have a new forum, new secret diary, and now no excuses to not keep up with it as I used to in the past.  I have plans for more teach a trick videos -with the help of Temika making sure I actually not only film them but get them edited and up online for ya'll.  PLUS!!!  An exciting new section of either the secret diary or the freaky fan forum -I've yet to decide- called "WHAT'S IN THE DUMPSTER AT THE GREEK ISLES???".  Basically if you've ever been to the greek isles aka the hotel where the show Im' in here in vegas is held at nightly and actually even if you've not been to the greek isles but just simply walked past it -hey it could happen- then that section basically speaks for itself.  The greek always has interestingly volitale odors purmiating from its back parking garage where we, the acts, park our cars.  So one day as I'm walking into the backstage area I just took a gander into the dumpster as I threw in my empty starbucks cup an was amazed at what I saw!  I honestly had no idea what it was but it looked like something out of a Mark Boardachardt horror movie.  Since that day I've always wanted to have a weekly update called "What's in the dumpster at the greek isles" so stay tuned to when that is going to be posted. 

Well I'm sorry to say that's all the time we have for this evening, I have to get up early tomorrow -yes 10 am, and run some errands and get to a meeting, so until next time kiddies keep checking out the site as I continue t update it with interesting tidbits!
